What is a Well Woman Exam?
A Well Woman Exam is a routine check-up that includes a physical exam, breast exam, and pelvic exam. It also includes a discussion about your health history, current health concerns, and any medications you are taking. We recommend that women between the ages of 21 and 65 get a Well Woman Exam annually, or as recommended by their healthcare provider.
Why is a Well Woman Exam important?
A Well Woman Exam is important because it can help detect potential health issues early, when they are easier to treat. It also provides an opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have with your gynecologist. Regular Well Woman Exams can help you maintain optimal reproductive health and overall well-being.

A Well Woman Exam is a comprehensive visit that allows me to assess your overall health, screen for potential health issues, and provide personalized recommendations for maintaining and improving your well-being.
Why are Well Woman Exams important?
Regular Well Woman Exams are important for maintaining good health, preventing and detecting potential health issues, and identifying risk factors for certain diseases. These visits can help identify early warning signs of conditions such as cervical cancer, breast cancer, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Additionally, Well Woman Exams are an opportunity to discuss contraception options, family planning, and menopause management.
What can I expect during my Well Woman Exam?
During your Well Woman Exam, we will perform a physical exam, which may include checking your blood pressure, heart rate, and weight. We will also perform a breast exam to check for any lumps, bumps, or other abnormalities. The pelvic exam allows us to check the health of your reproductive organs and screen for STIs. If indicated, we will perform a Pap smear to screen for cervical cancer.
What should I do to prepare for my Well Woman Exam?
To prepare for your Well Woman Exam, it is helpful to make a list of any questions or concerns you may have. You should also bring a list of your current medications, including any over-the-counter supplements or vitamins. It is also important to avoid sexual intercourse, vaginal douching, and using any vaginal creams or suppositories for at least 24 hours before your appointment.
What happens after my Well Woman Exam?
After your Well Woman Exam, we will review any findings and discuss any necessary follow-up care. If your Pap smear results come back abnormal, we may recommend additional testing or treatment. We may also recommend additional screenings or testing based on your age, medical history, and other risk factors.
